The length of usage has always been the core indicator for measuring the quality of soldering iron tips in the soldering iron tip industry,.Easy to use and long service life have also been the research direction for many soldering iron tip manufacturers for many years.
Currently,as the most mature solution is still adjust electroplating layer density and uniformity more changing surface state of layer than keeping their thickness unchanged.Under this idea, the stability and excellent composition of the electroplating are the first step in the industry. Now,they prefer to add some subtle factors, for example,nano-additives,to improve the plating solution. As a critical step,it is technically difficult so that the optimal addition ratio always comes up after many attempts.
The second step is to find the golden section point between the thickness of the plating layer and the temperature. The thicker the alloy plating layer, the longer the time of corrosion resistance. But its side effect is that the heat conduction will be weak.So how to balance these two aspects, that is,to make the plating layer as thick as possible without affecting the heat conduction speed.
There is another attempt that,on the premise of protecting the environment, use the welding technology to weld high-purity iron and copper together. The working part is made of alloy iron, and the rear heat conduction still utilizes the excellent properties of copper. The difference is that the former uses a copper base wrapped with an electroplated layer, while the latter is divided into two parts. In terms of corrosion resistance, the latter definitely has an absolute advantage. However, regarding the heat energy transfer, its limitations are also clear.Yet the adaptability remains to be improved, especially under the soldering condition which requires higher temperature and accuracy.
