1.Don't put your soldering tip on the table, put in in a holder. The most frequent mistake is that of placing the soldering iron tip on the work surface, neglecting a very important aspect:safety and danger. Placing the soldering iron tip on its supporter , you will avoid burning your hands or damaging other things on your work desk.
2.Use a sponge not something invasive. Another important mistake that you must absolutely avoid is cleaning the tip using invasive systems .one of the most wrong ways ,is to clean using abrasive paper. There are alternative solutions like this :a special abrasive sponge, but you have to use it wisely.just pass it gently to remove the tin. The simplest and least risky system is to use a sponge soaked in water to avoid taking risks.Even with abrasive soldering sponge, excellent results are obtained, just passing the tip lightly ,without applying pressure. If you have nothing ,you can also do this : small blow of the wrist and the TIN will be expelled.
3.Use fresh tin for soldering.Always you have to use new tin because you need the flux which is inside the tin
4.Don't forget to add tin to your tip.The most common mistake in tin soldering is to solder the components without adding tin to the tip. When you are soldering always have to put clean tin on the tip in order to speed up the soldering process. The tin added on the tip will act as a thermal conductor exposing much more surface to heat.
5.Don't forget to pre tin element you want to solder. Another mistake you must avoid is to solder two elements without pre-tinning the surface or the copper wire.always put tin on the wire before soldering in to the connector. If you try to welder a bare cable without being tinned first the result will be bad .
6.Don't put your solder in water. Another stupid mistake to be avoid in order to cool the tip quickly when it is in working temperature,is to immerse it in cold water.Never do this stupid thing ,let your welder cool down through the natural cooling process.
7.Don't solder oxydated metal part. This is a very common mistake ,try to solder with the presence of oxide.Oxidation is a natural process that prevent adhesion between metal and tin.The simplest solution is to remove the oxide with an abrasive sponge.Clean with a simple sponge you will notice the difference.
8. use a carbon filter so you don't have the fume in your face. This is very important because it affects your health .when you are soldering prevent the fumes from reaching your face.
9.Don't use large tip on small component.Another mistake to avoid is to use a large tip for small components and the other way around .Different sizes of tips for different sizes of components ,everything will be easier with the right tip.
10.Use the right temperature. If we don’t respect the right temperature ,we will face the problem of melting the coating materials. You must know the temperature to be set well so as not to damage the components you are soldering
11.Don’t use too big or too small tin. This is another common mistake ,using the wrong tin size.Avoid soldering small components with too large tin because you will get a bad result.
Even using a very small wire on a very large component risky because you will expose that component to long period of exposure to heat. With the right wire everything will be much easier and faster.
But above all ,soldering will be more fun
